Air Source Heat Pumps
Air Source Heat Pumps in Hampshire

What are Air Source Heat Pumps?
Where the use of Ground Source Heat Pumps have been considered but are deemed to be inappropriate, either because of lack of space, or budget, an Air Source Heat Pump may well be the answer. The only space requirement is an outside wall making them ideal for apartments and homes with limited outside space. With no need for groundwork's, installation costs are kept to a minimum.
Air Source Heat Pumps heat your home or building with energy absorbed from the ambient air, using a fan unit located outside the building. The pump converts heat from the air into space heating and hot water through a heat exchanger and heat pump. It can extract heat from the air even when the outside temperature is as low as minus 15ยบ C.
Air Source Heat Pumps reduce your fuel bills. They run very efficiently on electricity, so cut out the use of fossil fuels to heat your home or building. Efficiencies of between 200% and 350% are achievable.
The Air Source Heat Pump system is compact, and requires no storage space for fuel. GEC-CO's air source heat pumps are self contained externally, requiring no bulky internal unit. You'll need a place outside your building where a unit can be fitted to a wall or placed on the ground. It will need plenty of space around it to get a good flow of air.

As Air Source Heat Pumps produce less heat than traditional oil or gas boilers, it is therefore essential that your home is insulated and draught proofed well for the heating system to be effective. A well insulated and correctly specified hot water cylinder is also important.
As with all heat pumps, Air Source Heat Pumps are much more efficient when supplying low temperature systems such as underfloor heating systems rather than radiator-based systems, although efficient radiators correctly sized can be accommodated by the heat pump.
An outside Air Source Heat Pump working efficiently can reduce energy consumption for heating by up to 50%- 60% when compared to conventional heating systems.
